What a locksmith has to do is keep up with the times.
Locks aren’t what they used to be, so neither are keys, anymore. What all cars manufactured after 1995, use, is a transponder key.
This is a key with a microchip inside it that communicates with the on-board computer that is inside your car. Your car’s ignition will not fire, before it receives the necessary signal from your microchip key.
Transponder keys help prevent theft and keep you and your car secure.
We are one of the few locksmiths to get with the programme
Only a few Locksmiths are qualified to make transponder key duplicates or re-programme a Transponder Keys ignition system – if a new key is to be made.
Perth Locksmiths is one of them.
So, if you have a modern car, and happen to have misplaced or lost your keys, we are the ones who will be able to help you get back into your car – and your life – again!
We do not recommend our clients use their duplicate key indefinitely
When you lose your car’s transponder key, anyone who finds it, can start your car and make off with it.
What you need to do is reprogramme your car’s ignition system. This means the lost key will no longer work.
Of course, your duplicate key also won’t work, and you will need two totally new sets of transponder keys with a re-programmed ignition system – a project we can fully undertake for you
What we will leave you with – should you lose your car’s transponder key?
1. A brand-new set of Transponder keys – a master key with a duplicate
2. A re-programmed ignition system that a thief will not be able to break into using your previous transponder key
3. Security and peace of mind that your car is safe and that you are too!
lost your transponder car keys, it is not advisable to use your duplicate set indefinitely. If you have lost your keys, it is not safe to use your duplicate. A person who has found your keys, may be able to open and start your car – making off with it.
